Welcome to Mindful Mondays - Compassionate Systems Participants, Now it’s time to go deeper into the models and practices, so that you can impact your own wellness (and students at the same time). We are calling this series Mindful Mondays. We are fast approaching the end of the school year, and we would like to send you off to summer with strategies to enhance your wellness and resilience, as well as that of students and adults you will serve next year. Summer is a perfect time for reflection and for creating new healthy habits. We have three Monday afternoons in May before breaking for summer. That means we can meet 4:00-5:00 each of those days, and set ourselves up for a more resilient next year. Time cards will be available at these workshops. If you can only make 2 out of 3, please come to two!

De-Escalation: A Training for Teachers – Are you looking to create a safer, more inclusive learning environment in your classroom? Do you want to feel more equipped to handle challenging behaviors with confidence and empathy? Join us for a transformative training session on De-Escalation Techniques for Teachers.
Teachers will be paid the PD hourly rate for attendance. The Why: Empowerment: Learn practical strategies to de-escalate tense situations in the classroom, fostering a positive and productive learning environment for all students. Enhanced Communication: Develop effective communication skills to connect with students, build trust, and address underlying issues causing disruptive behavior. Safety and Well-being: Equip yourself with tools to ensure the safety and well-being of both students and yourself, while promoting a culture of respect and understanding. Professional Growth: Expand your skill set and enhance your teaching practice with evidence-based techniques proven to promote a positive classroom climate. What's in Store for You: Recognize the warning signs for someone on a path to violence, identify stressors, changes in baseline behavior, and observable behavioral indicators. Assess the situation to protect personal safety and the safety of those around you. Identify what an escalating person may look like and warning signs. It is important to create a holistic assessment of the person of concern’s circumstances and stressors this begins with awareness of one’s self, precipitating events or stressors, and the situation unfolding. De-escalate the situation currently taking place if safe to do so. Individuals are encouraged to use purposeful actions, verbal techniques, and body language to calm a potentially dangerous situation. Safety is the highest priority, know your limits, and obtain help immediately if needed. Report the situation through organizational reporting to enable assessment and management of an evolving threat, and 9-1-1 for immediate threats. More
